The ‘Best of the Best’ distinction in the Red Dot Design Award is the highest honour given by the Red Dot jury. It is reserved for the most outstanding designs in each category. Winning this award indicates that the product or project meets the high standards of design quality set by the jury and shows exceptional innovation, functionality, formal quality, and emotional appeal.

The Red Dot Design Award is one of the most prestigious design competitions, comparable to the Oscars in the film industry. This year, the jury consisted of 39 experts from 20 countries across 4 continents. They cover various design disciplines and work as professors, consultants, journalists or industrial designers.
Entries came from 60 countries for this year’s edition. The Red Dot Award celebrates products that excel in function, appeal, usability, and responsibility. With its sleek aesthetics, essential functionality, oil-filled dial, as well as intuitive setting and winding, the Ressence TYPE 3 BB2 exemplifies these qualities. The jury emphasised the hand-flattering features and beautiful proportions of the Ressence TYPE 3 BB2.
Almost 70 years of Red Dot
The Red Dot Design Award looks back on almost 70 years of history: in 1955, a jury came together for the first time to assess the best designs of the time. In the 1990s, Red Dot CEO Professor Dr Peter Zec developed the name and brand of the award. Since then, the coveted “Red Dot” distinction has been the internationally recognised seal of outstanding design quality.
