The event is born from the desire to m ake the public and the lucky participants re - live the first circuit speed race, held in Umbria from 1924 to 1927, conceived and desired by Giovanni Buitoni, patron of the 'La Perugina' confectionery company. A revival event, reserved for historic cars pro duced up to 1965, twenty of them with open bodywork, produced up to 1930.
The programme
The event will begin on Thursday 11 th of May, when the participants will enter the Autodromo dell'Umbria in Magione, to run laps on the track with skill tests. Satu rday's programme includes the departure for Sansepolcro, a tour of the town and the transfer to Perugia, where the traditional parade of cars with crews in historical dress, motorbikes and antique bicycles will follow in Corso Vannucci. Sunday will be the turn of the re - enactment of the historic Coppa della Perugina circuit.
Umbria, the green heart of Italy, amidst medieval villages and flower - filled landscapes will serve as an evocative setting for the race . Four days under the banner of nature, culture , food and wine, elements that have made this region one of the most popular destinations for national tourism and this race a must - see destination for fans of historic cars.
For the 2023 edition there will be about 100 cars invo lved that will gather in Perugia, with competitors coming from all over Italy and the rest of Europe. The fulcrum of the event will be the city circuit on Sunday morning, which will see the cars race through the streets of the city centre, as they did in the 1920s.

The overall winner of the Coppa della Perug ina will be awarded the "Tazio Nuvolari Time Only", a watch with an automatic movement, dedicated to a sporty man with an elegant and refined style.
