GMT’s 24 ‘anniversary’ candles have been glowing throughout 2024 like time zones around the world, lighting up passionate initiatives designed to celebrate this symbolic anniversary. Among them, the GMT Watch Safari thrilled readers with its original and intense format (check out the report inside), while The Millennium Watch Book on travel watches whisked its audience into a marvellous space-time. We also extend sincere thanks to De Bethune, H. Moser & Cie. and TAG Heuer, each of which created a limited series on the theme of 24 and GMT, once again delighting our readers. This year also coincided with the tenth (and final?) edition of Only Watch, the 21st-century phenomenon that has left an indelible imprint on the watchmaking landscape and on which founder Luc Pettavino takes a look back in this issue. For the majority of industry stakeholders, 2024 has also marked the return of real challenges in an extremely uncertain economic climate, as Zenith’s CEO Benoit de Clerck evokes in a confident yet clear-sighted manner. Meanwhile, Frédéric Grangié, President Chanel Watchmaking & Fine Jewellery raises the curtain on the 25th anniversary of the J12 in 2025, stating that “a quarter of a century for a collection is significant”. As a privileged witness of this quarter-century on the watchmaking scene, as well as a modest player behind the scenes, I can only agree with him. A quarter century for a watchmaking medium is indeed just as significant. There’s also much to look forward to in 2025, starting with the 270th anniversary of Vacheron Constantin, the oldest watch brand in uninterrupted activity, whose fabulous creations put a sparkle in the eye and warm the heart throughout this winter edition.
