Its dial has evolved over the years in terms of both finish and size, yet it has never actually vanished

The idea of a Monaco Skeleton was inherently taboo: how could one preserve the identity of a watch whose bright blue and square counters were a major part of its design? Nonetheless, to mark the 80th edition of the Monaco Grand Prix, the taboo has been broken. Not once, but three times! In blue, black & red or and black & turquoise, the Monaco reveals a skeletonized version that is sharper-looking than ever. Its exposed mechanics reveal an athletic interplay of gear wheels and a date that coils around the movement. The counters now feature canted edges and in-line indications. The small seconds at 6 o’clock are literally suspended in space. For the first time, the strap is made of leather and blue embossed rubber. The titanium case houses the Manufacture Heuer 02 movement. Stunning!

The editorial team was impressed by the bold aesthetic and technical features, the effectively preserved Monaco style, the ultra-sporty and lightweight titanium case, the in-line design of the counters and the 80-hour power reserve.
