The Gucci Dive is the star of the WorldTempus office this week as we all take turns to wear it

Steven Rogers

For me, this is a great summer watch thanks to its vibrant dial colour, easy wearability and useful functions.

The eye-catching blue hue of the dial is deftly executed while its sunbrushed finishing creates a neat play of light. The hands, kite-shaped indexes and scale on the rotating ceramic bezel are all treated with Super-LumiNova that glow green in the dark, aiding legibility while also adding to the dial’s overall allure.

The stainless-steel case and integrated bracelet certainly give the watch some heft but the case’s sweet-spot 40mm diameter ensures it fits snugly on the wrist. The presence of the metal bracelet and 300-metre water resistance make this a natural companion to relaxing at the beach and in the sea.

What’s more, the automatic movement with 56-hour power reserve means you shouldn’t have to worry that much about winding the watch or resetting the time. You can just grab it and go!

Having tested it for a week during the Skippers Cup in Greece, the Gucci Dive is very pleasant to wear, particularly easy to read at night in the darkness of the cabin, while attracting attention and interest. The harmony of its design and colours makes it an undeniable aesthetic success, so much so that it would be tempting to wear the blue and green versions in turn (we haven't tested the version with the black dial). A chic sports watch for holidays and casual evenings, with or without a scuba tank.

I first clapped eyes on the Gucci Dive Watch on Instagram when I spotted Brice wearing it in Greece during the Skippers Cup (his review is above). Like all watch enthusiasts, I ignored the sea and the boat and immediately zoomed in on the watch to see what it was; we just can’t help ourselves! It wasn’t immediately obvious what it was from a distance, but once you take a closer look, the cool Gucci design becomes evident with the uniquely shaped indexes and hands, as well as the signature bumble bee above the logo. Back in the office, I was keen to try it on and it looks as good on the wrist in Geneva as it did in Greece on social media, which is definitely proof of an excellent design.

Given that black and blue are timeless colors that won’t go out of style, this watch is a smart investment for anyone looking to own a classic watch that will remain in vogue for years to come. I am happy they chose an Oyster bracelet for this watch. For me, it is aesthetically the prettiest and is also known to be the most durable because its design minimizes stretching over time.

Although it is a men’s watch, the chunkier watches have become popular amongst women (here is my article on watches worn by the It girls if you are interested). So girls reading this article, try this 40mm watch and let me know what you think!

As a PADI-certified diver myself, I am always excited when a dive watch arrives at the WorldTempus office, so I can try it on! The Gucci Dive was no exception. It features a full steel 40 mm case, unidirectional black ceramic bezel, Super-LumiNova indexes and a sunbrushed blue dial with the quintessential interlocking G logo. With a 300-meter water resistance and powered by an automatic movement with a 56-hour power reserve, it’s the perfect contender for your next splash!

With the summer rapidly approaching, having a proper mechanical dive watch is a must have item. Thanks to its beautiful sun ray blue dial, modern hour markers, black ceramic bezel and comfortable steel bracelet, this watch ticks all the boxes, even before bringing it anywhere near the water where it will be able to accompany you on all your dives thanks to its 300M water resistance. What struck me the most about this watch was the general build quality and sturdy feel. Turning the bezel inspired confidence, and feeling the weight of the watch on the wrist really confirms that this is a tool watch through and through.

All in all, my jaw dropped when I saw the competitive pricing of this piece that would be the perfect companion on any wrist. The best thing to do with a piece like this is to wear it in all situations and enjoy it fully. One thing is for sure, any owner of this piece will have a blast this summer!
