Glashütte Original is a manufacturer that truly lives up to its name. It is one of the first watchmakers to settle in the small Saxon town of Glashütte in 1845. Today, it proudly boasts an uninterrupted 180 years of craftsmanship, blending artisanal expertise with cutting-edge technology. For the occasion, the brand is offering two beautiful anniversary gifts: two new ambassadors of German watchmaking, decorated, assembled, and regulated by hand with the utmost care—the Senator Excellence Date Panorama Moon Phase, available in two versions, with a silver or rose dial and Roman numerals.

A Tribute to the Past
Two new versions of the Senator, standing among the creative pillars of the brand, are not born out of nowhere. They incorporate design elements inspired by the house’s archives, but reinterpreted in a contemporary way. The two dials feature one in “frosted silver” and the other in “frosted copper” hues. These two appealing shades are a nod to the rich mineral deposits of the Ore Mountains in the region. The surface finish of these dials evokes the coldness that can prevail in the depths of the rock, making it the perfect backdrop for the hand-applied Roman numerals, crafted in solid gold and coated in blue to match the blued hands for the hours, minutes, and seconds. Completing this functional dial design, the panoramic date at 4 o’clock is a more recent tradition, introduced in many Glashütte Original watches since 1997. It provides a perfect balance to the piece, echoing the moonphase indicator positioned between 10 and 11 o’clock.
A Strong Identity
These two new Senator Excellence Date Panorama Moon Phase models remain true to the DNA of the collection. Legibility, simplicity, and elegance are at the forefront, with a 40mm steel case featuring a fine bezel and both polished and satin surfaces. Inside, it houses the automatic movement Caliber 36, which is beautiful, precise, and offers an impressive power reserve. With refined finishes and traditional decorations, its silicon hairspring is resistant to magnetic fields, corrosion, and temperature variations, ensuring great stability. Its extra-large barrel has been specially developed to provide a power reserve of at least 100 hours.

Must-Have Pieces
These two new Senator models stand as both new and irresistible essentials. Paying tribute to the great tradition of a brand that symbolizes German watchmaking art, they are now available at all official Glashütte Original retailers. Not only are these pieces a must-have for collectors, but also for lovers of elegance and craftsmanship who might want to step off the beaten path and indulge in a piece of high-end watchmaking, not Swiss, but German. True originality in itself…
