Eberhard & Co. presents a Contograf Dallara to honor renowned Italian race car manufacturer and engineering company

Eberhard & Co.’s connection to motor racing runs deep. The company’s love for chronographs and racing comes together in many of its activities and watches.

Tazio Nuvolari

Its Nuvolari Legend chronograph is a case in point. This collection pays tribute to Tazio Nuvolari, an Italian racing driver from Casel d’Ario near Mantua, Italy. Nuvolari raced from 1920 to 1950 in both automobile and motorcycle races, winning 150 races over his career, including 24 Grand Prix, five Coppa Cianos, two Mille Miglias, two Targa Florios, two RAC Tourist Trophies, and a Le Mans 24-Hour race. Eberhard & Co. has honored the driver with a whole range of chronographs that are inspired by the horological design codes present when Nuvolari was racing.

It was Miki Biasion, Eberhard & Co. Ambassador and former rally champion, however, that provided the connection between Eberhard & Co and Dallara when the two companies were partnering at the historic motorsport event “La Leggenda di Bassano – Trofeo Giannino Marzotto”. It was here that Miki Biasion was driving a Dallara Stradale, the company’s first road car that has 400 horsepower, a top speed of 280 km/h, and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.25 seconds.

The Contograf

Eberhard & Co. has chosen its Contograf model to celebrate this new collaborative timepiece. First launched in the 1960s, the Contograf automatic chronograph had a number of innovative features, including a counter at three o’clock that tracked the payphone connection charges that would kick in every three minutes. It also included a large date display at six o’clock with a quick-set functionality – a revolutionary detail for its time.

The Dallara Contograf

The brand-new Contograf keeps all these unique design codes and includes an automotive-inspired tachymeter scale on the inner bezel, featuring a red 50 km/h average speed marker. It comes with a black dial that has been customized with yellow counters – Dallara’s signature car color – and includes the distinctive Dallara logo below the Eberhard & Co. logo.

The watch comes in a 42mm stainless steel case and is powered by a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement. There are two counters – one 30-minute chronograph counter at three o’clock and a continuous small seconds counter at 9 o’clock. The dial is completed by a date at six o’clock and a central chronograph seconds hand. Other details include a unidirectional rotating bezel in black ceramic, a screwed-in caseback and a water resistance of 50 meters. The watch comes on a three-link bracelet and is limited to 50 pieces. It is available exclusively to Dallara and the owners of the iconic Dallara Stradale.
