The Caliber 5 is the first Flying Tourbillon movement to be created in-house, designed in Paris by Arnaud Chastaingt, Director of the CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio, and developed and assembled at the CHANEL Swiss Manufacture. Equally beautiful from both the front and the back, the exposed mechanism with its highly sophisticated finish is adorned with a lion’s head, the signature of CHANEL Haute Horlogerie Manufacture movements. In a true technical tour de force, a solitaire diamond is positioned in the center of the flying tourbillon cage. Specifically cut to enhance its brilliance, the diamond rotates with the seconds, creating a hypnotic effect.
In 2024, the CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio unveils a new interpretation of the J12 Diamond Tourbillon, in matte black ceramic and white ceramic.
"The diamond was Gabrielle Chanel’s favorite stone. J12 is a muse and the CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio wanted to create a unique diamond. Set at the center of the tourbillon, the solitaire diamond follows the mechanism of the movement, lending time a rhythm that is precious and contemplative, almost hypnotic. It is set at the heart of a CHANEL Manufacture movement."
