Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud celebrates renowned retailer Sincere Haute Horlogerie’s 70th anniversary with an exclusive salmon-dialled platinum edition of its Chronomètre FB RES

To mark the 70th anniversary of Sincere Haute Horlogerie, Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud has unveiled a special Jubilee Edition of its Chronomètre FB RES.

Limited to just three pieces, the watch features a platinum octagonal case and a striking salmon-hued dial. It serves as a fitting tribute to the longstanding partnership between one of Asia’s most respected luxury watch retailers and the Chopard-owned high-end brand.

Since its founding in Singapore in 1954, Sincere Haute Horlogerie has established itself as a key player in Asia’s fine watchmaking scene, with a network of over 23 boutiques showcasing the world’s leading independent watchmakers.

Among these, Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud has held a special place since the brand’s revival in 2015. “Sincere is one of our long-term partners, having supported us since the launch of our very first collections,” says Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, President of Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud. “As such, we felt it was important for us to play our part in the festivities surrounding their 70th anniversary.”

Subtle Yet Striking

At first glance, the Jubilee Edition captivates with its satin-brushed salmon dial, a visually warm feature that contrasts beautifully with the cool tones of the 44mm platinum case. Adding a symbolic flourish, the case is engraved with an infinity logo at 9 o’clock, while each piece is individually numbered ‘1 of 3,’ highlighting its exclusivity for the fortunate collectors who secure one.

Inside the FB RES

The semi-openwork dial offers a glimpse into the intricate workings of the Calibre FB-RES.FC, an in-house movement that combines two of the brand’s hallmark innovations: a fusee-and-chain mechanism and a remontoir d’égalité.

At the start of the gear train, the fusee-and-chain mechanism ensures a steady flow of torque from the barrel, regardless of the mainspring’s level of wind. At the other end, the remontoire compensates for any irregularities caused by gear friction, storing energy momentarily before releasing it to the escapement in steady one-second increments. This precise regulation also drives the central deadbeat seconds hand, which advances in crisp, one-second steps.

While its mechanics are rooted in 18th-century horology, the design feels thoroughly contemporary. “Imagining a modern interpretation of [Berthoud’s] exceptional work seemed a quite logical step,” Scheufele explains, referring to the inspiration behind the collection – a skeletonised remontoire-equipped table clock crafted by master watchmaker Ferdinand Berthoud around 1775.

He continues: “This gave rise to the idea behind the FB RES collection: a skeletonised, more technical version of our own Calibre FB-RE.FC with a one-second remontoire mechanism.”

Craft and COSC

As with all Ferdinand Berthoud creations, the Jubilee Edition is a showcase of meticulous craftsmanship. The movement bridges, mainplate and gears feature polished bevels that, when measured end to end, span more than two linear metres.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the FB RES is also a COSC-certified chronometer, guaranteeing exceptional timekeeping performance. This accuracy is paired with precise time setting, thanks to the movement’s stop-seconds mechanism integrated into the balance wheel.

A Tailored Collaboration

The Jubilee Edition also underscores the extensive customisation options introduced with the FB RES collection earlier this year.

Clients and retail partners can personalise elements such as the case material, shape, dial finish and engravings to create unique pieces or exclusive limited editions. For this Jubilee model, Sincere Haute Horlogerie collaborated closely with the Val-de-Travers-based brand to bring its vision to life, resulting in a timepiece that is both commemorative and distinctive.

Deeper Meaning

The carefully chosen materials, tones and finishes make the Chronomètre FB RES Jubilee Edition a worthy addition to the Ferdinand Berthoud canon. While its exclusivity ensures that only three collectors will experience this watch firsthand, its significance goes beyond those fortunate few: By celebrating a milestone for Sincere Haute Horlogerie, this timepiece underscores the enduring power of collaboration in fine watchmaking.
