25 years ago, Chopard unveiled the horological beauty of L.U.C. Quattro, with a 9-day power reserve and certified precision. The maison celebrates its journey with a new interpretation in ethical rose gold -- refined, streamlined and equipped with a new movement variation.

Doubly certified by the Geneva Hallmark and the COSC, the L.U.C. Quattro embodies fine watchmaking. This excellence results from foundational work, led by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele. In charge of the watchmaking division at Chopard, he explains never having "bet on short-term profit, but on stability, independence, progress and authenticity necessary to create a unique horological expression for the next 25 years and beyond".

In 1996, against the trends of the time, the current co-president of this family business chose to integrate movement manufacturing. He would continue on this path with the acquisition of Fleurier Ebauches in 2009. As early as 1996, Chopard integrated the demanding specifications of the Geneva Hallmark certification, a guarantee of quality.

Chopard's horological history, told by L.U.C.

In 1997, the L.U.C 1869 was the first watch from the workshops. Since then, Chopard's expertise in horological complications can be read through the evolution of the same collection. Between its sites in Fleurier and Meyrin, in Geneva, Chopard Manufacture is able to fully produce its watches: design, manufacturing, assembly, decoration and certification -- which allows it to meet the highest requirements. For the record, in 2011, Chopard presented the world's first watch meeting the triple certification of COSC, Geneva Hallmark and Fleurier Quality, with the L.U.C Triple Certification Tourbillon.

"Quattro" barrels for a major innovation

Chopard marked the year 2000 with the introduction, for the first time, of a caliber featuring four barrels stacked two by two and coupled in series. The total length of the springs amounts to 1,885 meters, offering a 9-day power reserve. The Quattro movement also allows for better precision, as the energy transmitted by the four barrels is more uniformly distributed. A constant-force escapement ensures the transmission of energy accumulated in these springs. The balance wheel, oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), contributes to the watch's precision, attested by COSC.

"The L.U.C Quattro model is a technical feat, the result of several years that Chopard has dedicated to the pursuit of precision, innovation, and creativity in fine watchmaking" praises Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, co-president of Chopard.

25 years, an opportunity to improve further

To mark the 25th anniversary of this innovative milestone, Chopard reveals the L.U.C. Quattro in a new refined case, in 18-carat ethical rose gold, 39 millimeters in diameter and 10.4 millimeters thick. Its curved shape (the bottom is narrower than the domed and polished bezel) recalls the heritage of pocket watches by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in the 19th century.

On the occasion of this 25th anniversary, Chopard has also developed a variant of the L.U.C 98.01-L movement: the L.U.C 98.09-L. The power reserve display now moves to the back, on the movement. The dial thus gains in minimalist refinement and elegance.

Exclusive, the new responsible rose gold L.U.C. Quattro will be available only in Chopard boutiques.
