Just over a year ago, during the 2022 edition of Geneva Watch Days, I remember asking Marco Borraccino the following question: "If your watch had a superpower, what would it be?" Singer Reimagined’s CEO replied without batting an eyelid: "To make good coffee!" A few hours later, I discovered the existence of the Flytrack Barista, which measures the ideal time to make a coffee thanks to its chronograph developed by Aghenor. Funny, ingenious and totally offbeat! The Fine Watch Club's limited series of 12 unique Singer Flytrack Cocktail Timers is in a similar vein. It revisits the aesthetics and technique of the Singer chronograph in a more festive theme. This time, the complication enables cocktails to be prepared to perfection. Strong, balanced, floral or fruity, whatever the way you like to drink cocktails, this chrono ensures optimal preparation. It's a smart move as the festive season approaches.

What more can one ask from a watch than bold design and some of the world's best technical content that radiates emotion, exclusivity, and playfulness? With its instantly recognizable Singer Reimagined silhouette, its GPHG-winning calibre in the Chronographs category, its playful mixologist function, and its creation specifically for our Fine Watch Club, the Singer Flytrack Cocktail Timer is a sensation. Cocktails are synonymous with festivities and good times to be shared, and its dial, available in 12 pieces only, leaves no one indifferent. The icing on the cocktail cake is that each piece is unique, bearing its own number, both on the engraved back and on the bezel, where the number appears in neon orange (the brand's signature colour and in this case number 10). Wearing it is a pleasure to be consumed without moderation.

When I was young, my parents used to have “relay” dinner parties with their friends in our neighbourhood in the English countryside. One house would do the starter, another the main course, the dessert, and so on. We always did the pre-dinner cocktails and my brother and I were in charge of our makeshift bar. I think we must have been around the ages of ten and 12. We had the ice, the shaker, the measuring cups, the recipe book. We loved doing it and would giggle as the motley crew of neighbours would wobble out of the front door onto the first course.
All this to say, that when I first clapped eyes on the Singer Reimagined Cocktail Fine Watch Edition, it brought back all these memories of making cocktails, mixing the Cointreau, Curaçao, Malibu, and coffee liqueur with a host of mixers. Add to this the actual cocktail-making complication, the fruity colours of the fonts on the dial, the retro design of the dial and case (that is kind of the same era as my foray into cocktail-making), and its Agenhor movement, and this timepiece just makes me smile (and I haven’t even had a cocktail yet)!

When it comes to measuring time, we typically use 60 seconds as the standard unit for most time calculations. Singer Reimagined decided to concentrate on three well-known ones: Tachymeter, Pulsometer, and Telemeter. And now, we have the Singer Flytrack Cocktail Timer, a product of our collaboration with the Fine Watch Club. What makes Flytrack watches special is their easy transition to the cocktail timer function. With a simple press of the button at 2 o'clock, you can set your watch to time your favorite cocktail, whether you like it strong, balanced, floral, or fruity. The only thing to watch out for is that you might enjoy your cocktails a bit too much... just like I do. So, please remember to drink responsibly, or not – it's up to you!

Who doesn’t love a fun night out? Picture the scene: a sumptuous, dimly lit bar, a myriad of individuals engaged in passionate conversations about life’s endless topics, a backdrop of light music setting the mood. A group showcasing their dance moves as the more reserved sway gently to the beat, a pleasant and familiar buzz of excitement and adrenaline lingering in the air. And at centre stage, at the helm of this lively spectacle, is the conductor – the bartender, with his confidant (and complicated!) shaker dance, supplying refreshing concoctions to his captivated clientele.
It makes one wish to master the art of creating delectable potions themselves (or is it just me?). Apparently, what takes a cocktail to a whole new level is understanding the dance of melting ice and its effects. The duration of ice melt influences the flavor profile, with sweet and bitter elements softening while subtler notes are heightened. As the temperature of the drink is lowered by the melting ice, essential oils and ingredient flavours are released, intensifying aromas and adding fragrance to the cocktail. It’s a whole science unto itself!
But what if there was a simpler way to create delicious cocktails? Queue the Singer Reimagined x Fine Watch Club Cocktail Timer. A mere push at 2 o'clock activates the seconds hand, measuring the precise duration of ice melt in your cocktail. Easy, right?! There is plenty more to love about the watch: its retro design, generous 72-hour power reserve, flyback and zero-reset functions. As it is a 12-piece limited edition, I wouldn’t wait too long if you wish to get your hands on one! And who knows, you might teach the bartender a couple of tricks next time you’re out!

The Singer Flytrack collection is an intelligent extension of the timing complications associated with the motoring image of the brand, based on the movement expertise of Agenhor who supplies the mechanical calibres throughout Singer’s timepiece offerings. Following last year’s Barista watch, the new Cocktail limited edition — created in conjunction with the Fine Watch Club — reaches out to a new domain of beverage enthusiasts. Coffee connoisseurs are covered by the Barista, but the Cocktail limited edition (as the name suggests) uses the Flytrack’s 60-second timer to guide wearers through the process of optimal ice dilution in mixology. The application of mechanical watchmaking to various aspects of lifestyle pursuits really shines in this timepiece, and I look forward to putting it through a series of tests to observe the effect that different mix times with ice has upon a cocktail. All in the name of rigorous scientific experimentation, of course!
