The Glashütte Original Serenade Luna is the star of the WorldTempus office this week as we all take turns to wear it

Serenade: what a charming name for this collection which, even before I saw it, evoked images of Romeo wooing Juliet on her balcony or Cyrano dictating words of love to Christian in hopes of winning a kiss from the beautiful Roxane! Am I a romantic? Absolutely! Especially by moonlight and under starry skies. While the Serenade Luna's charming and ultra-feminine allure certainly appeals to the hopeless romantic in me, it would be a mistake to think that's all it offers. The Serenade Luna also has substance: beyond its noble materials and precise movement, it boasts perfect ergonomics. Who wouldn’t fall under its spell?

Seeing this watch reminded me of a post I saw on Instagram a couple of years ago about bikini bodies. The post explained, in simple terms, how to get a bikini body: 1. have a body, and 2. go to the beach. That’s it. No need for fad diets or quick fixes—just a straightforward message: being yourself is enough. Along those lines, it got me thinking of a question I often hear within the watch community: what is a "women’s watch"? To which I answer: it’s simply 1. a watch, and 2. worn by a woman. That’s it - no frills, no labels. The possibilities are endless, just like the individuality of every woman. Some watches do a fantastic job of capturing this diversity in one design, and that’s exactly what the Glashütte Original Serenade Luna achieves. My colleagues and I had a blast testing it this week, to showcase our unique styles and personalities. There’s no one way to be a woman, and while some of us were drawn to the watch’s more delicate features, I personally enjoyed the contrast it created with my sportier black leather jacket. The Serenade Luna beautifully adapts to all these moods. What’s yours?

After wearing this Glashütte Original model for a day, I was captivated by its elegance. Outdoors, in natural light, you can really appreciate this harmony between the red gold case and the golden green, as well as the play of light across the sunburst finish of the dial. I’d strongly recommend that clients move closer to the shop window when trying on this watch! The folding clasp fits perfectly and the darker alligator leather strap really brings out the 48-diamond pavé setting and moon phase. The automatic movement is ideal for those who, like me, often forget to wind their watch. It's a stunning piece with a perfect 32.5 mm diameter.

We can’t talk about the Glashütte Serenade Luna without talking about its mechanical movement. Where many women’s watches on the market today are fitted with quartz movements, Glashütte knows and respects that women are also susceptible to a finely crafted mechanical movement. The Serenade Luna is powered by the Calibre 35-14 automatic movement that features a silicon balance spring and a shock-resistant oscillating system. It indicates the hours, minutes, seconds, and phases of the moon and features a 60-hour power reserve. The components of the movement have been finished to the highest standards of decorative finishing, so when you have finished admiring the dial, don’t forget to turn the watch over and admire this magnificent movement through the open sapphire crystal case back.

What I absolutely love about the Serenade Luna is its ability to exude chic without being ostentatious. I love it when a watch stands out, but subtly! The case is the perfect example of this: it’s both elegant and discreet, it’s sophisticated and yet understated – a combination that’s hard to pull off. I also appreciate the variety of models; whether you choose steel or red gold, you can confidently wear your watch both at the office or at a more formal evening event. Every detail is crafted with impressive precision and I must say that the diamond-set bezel and crown on some versions add that extra touch of glamour without ever becoming gaudy. As for the dial, particularly the mother-of-pearl or sunburst versions, it radiates a brilliance that catches the eye without being overwhelming. This is exactly what I’m looking for in a watch: a timepiece that impresses with finesse and restraint.
