Zenith is unveiling two new Pilot’s Watches today in collaboration with Japanese bag maker Porter. We were lucky enough to get to play with them in the WorldTempus office at the beginning of the week, where a number of our colleagues gave their initial impressions, on camera, for this fun video “Team Test”.
The two new timepieces – a Zenith Pilot Automatic Porter and a Zenith Pilot Big Date FlyBack Chronograph Porter – are limited to 500 pieces each and come in a new matt khaki-green ceramic case with a corrugated green dial and funky orange details. Khaki and orange are two of Porter’s favourite colours and the Japanese bag company has made a messenger bag to go with each watch in the same colourway.
For those of you unfamiliar with Porter, the company was founded by the Japanese Manufacturer Yoshida & Co. in 1962. Named after the porters who help travellers with their luggage, it has become an established name both domestically in Japan and worldwide. It is appreciated for its minimal design and eye for functionality, much like each Zenith that comes with it.
Both watches are powered by El Primero movements – the 3620 for the Zenith Pilot Automatic Porter and the 3652 for the Zenith Pilot Big Date Flyback Chronograph Porter. The watches come with a choice of a khaki “Cordura” effect rubber strap with a black PVD steel folding clasp or a durable nylon fabric by Porter with the Japanese brand’s logo.
See which models and straps our team liked the best in this fun horological discovery video.
