To celebrate its 24th anniversary, GMT Magazine is organizing a week-long adventure for 24 watch enthusiasts, spanning from Geneva to Schaffhausen, with stops in Neuchâtel and the Vallée de Joux. The itinerary includes exclusive visits of the workshops and manufactures where exceptional timepieces are born. Here's a sneak preview of the programme for Day 1, which begins with a visit to the Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton in the morning, followed by an afternoon tour of the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet.
A journey through time
Nestled in the heart of the Vallée de Joux, in the village of Le Brassus, the Musée Atelier combines innovative museography with contemporary architecture designed by the BIG group, illustrating the visionary and traditional expertise of Haute Horlogerie. The museum combines the “Maison des Fondateurs”, where the original workshop was founded in 1875, with a cutting-edge glass spiral structure. A crossroads of eras, this architectural marvel houses some 300 timepieces, illustrating over two centuries of watchmaking history. The visit features sculptures, automata, kinetic installations, intricate mechanical models and educational exhibits. Visitors can explore ancestral techniques such as satin-finishing and circular-graining at work-benches and admire a number of precision masterpieces, such as the Universelle, a highly complicated pocket watch from 1899.
After the museum tour, GMT Watch Safari participants will enjoy an exhibition at the Piaget VIP lounge in Geneva over cocktails, before returning to their hotel, the Fraser Suites Geneva.
