It is a big day for us at the GMT Publishing offices as today marks the launch of the fourth volume of The Millennium Watch Book which is dedicated to the travel watch. Featuring the most important worldtimers and GMT models from the last 20 years, the book includes chapters on the history of travel watches, a guide to travel complications, independent creators, the auction world, and more. Like all the Millennium Watch Book editions, there is also a section dedicated to the Top 50 watches (travel watches in this case) that have marked the last two decades.
The book features arguably the most famous worldtimer on the cover – the Patek Philippe Ref: 5330G – a watch that was first launched in the 1930s and which made it possible to read the local times of all 24 time zones at a glance. There is also a section dedicated to a special version of this timepiece that was made for Singapore with an exquisite cloissoné dial.
This series of Millennium Watch Books – available in a choice of English or French – started in 2020 with an edition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of GMT Publishing. The book traced the key moments of watchmaking history since GMT magazine was founded. It was a huge success, which inspired GMT Publishing to create a series of books, with a new volume each year focusing on a specific watch category. The year 2021 was dedicated to the tourbillon, 2022 was all about chronographs, and 2023 focused on divers’ watches.
As the year 2024 is GMT Publishing’s 24th anniversary, and there are 24 hours in a day and 24 time zones across the globe, it made perfect sense to plunge into the world of travel watches for this 4th edition. This beautiful large-format coffee table-style book is made up of 200 pages packed full of watchmaking knowledge with chapters written by the finest watch-specialized journalists from around the world. It is also richly illustrated with hundreds of photographs from the most talented watch photographers, so you can find inspiration for your future watch purchases.
There is also a special section on three brand-new limited edition travel watches that are being presented to celebrate GMT Publishing’s 24th anniversary. The first is the TAG Heuer Carrera Twin-Time which was unveiled in a limited series of 24 pieces during Watches and Wonders 2024. The second is the De Bethune DB24, a limited edition of four pieces that was inspired by a timepiece that had disappeared from De Bethune’s catalogue for over a decade. And last but not least, GMT Publishing is celebrating its 24th anniversary with 24 models of a brand-new H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Dual Time that marks the first time this green dial has been used in the Pioneer line.
It is the perfect time to start thinking about the holidays and gifts for your loved ones, whether you are looking for a limited-edition watch or a fabulous watchmaking book, look no further. We have you covered!
